These pieces, written on 12.12.12 by members of the Writhing Society, used a vocabulary limited to the words found in the twelfth position (every twelfth word) of the twelfth page of the twelfth book found on five or more shelves in Reanimation Library, each writer choosing a different set of shelves. In the first of each pair of pieces, the words were scrambled, with no words added. In the second they were used in the order found, with other words inserted as needed.
NEWBORN STARS
Newborn stars take thirty adults northwest.
They should last.
Three decks, three planets.
Other resemblances.
The malleability lasted throughout the night, and into the next morning.
Thirty adults gathered around to observe it.
Like a newborn star, it offered resemblances to other planets.
The last three people crowded in to get a closer look at it.
They moved in a northwesterly direction which made one side of the room hang heavier than the other.
She pulled cards from three decks to predict what genes it had ended up with.
The last of the three were drawn and the room grew quiet.
"You should really take that back," someone warned.
And they all grew silent, waiting for it to make a sound.

The expected direction points to everything: procedural temperature; ventral boosters; winged anteriors. Two basic eating habits guide similar, reusable songs and cause minor forms. ANGELS OF THE MOUTH

RESTLESS OCEANS
Five winters ago, when I first built my castle around a bat, my fathers thought she was a mechanical contraption, wrong to unleash in the castles in this world, but no, I claim, no worse than an insect. By restless oceans, by marshes and graveyards, I am breeding bats, which, since only some species winter in these arctic latitudes, my fathers suggest are less profitable even than auks.
Bats won't eat vegetables or meat cooked in any style, just fruit, so their menus begin and end with baby food, which cuts out work, to be avoided in these temperatures, though my fathers beef about it, the dads like potatoes boiled then mashed by hand, they'll learn their lesson. We do suffer from rectal and gastro-intestinal worms, ailments three months in healing, our buttocks are inflamed to the ankle, and yet ….
We breed many bats, or they might be rats of an unknown kind, a conversion of rat-paws into wings and subsquent waves of flight, a sort of speech really, superior to our random gabble of human words, vocabulary transposed to a higher frequency by method.
